🌿 Medway Tales – Listening as the River (Free Event) 🌿 Medway Tales – Listening as the River (Free Event) | | 📅 Saturday, 26th July | 🕡 4PM to 6PM | 📍 Sun Pier House, Chatham

This is part of Friends of the River Medway's pilgrimage - From Source to Sea (19th to 27th July) - and the River Medway Celebration (26th July), a full day of activities designed to honour the River.

Led by University of Greenwich researchers and sound artist, Adrian Newton, this workshop will invite participants to listen to the voices and sounds of the River Medway. This will include sounds and stories captured from the banks and depths of the river, to experience the living river, our watery entanglements and to explore and create stories of the river’s present, past and future. River Pilgrims, artists and community members along the river will help to collect these sounds and stories which will allow the listener to connect to the sensory worlds and agency of the human and non-humans that co-create the river. This will then be shared in a performance.

The sounds and stories will also act as a springboard for participants to engage in creative exercises designed to explore human-water entanglements and the river as a living entity, which is in flux and continually reproduced through more-than-human relations. The workshop will include a quiet space for participants to reflect and share their stories of the living river’s future.

This workshop will last an hour and will run in two slots:

  • 16.00 – 17.00
  • 17.00 – 18.00

To book a free place on this workshop, please select a slot at the ticket section on Eventbrite (tickets are limited).
