Join us for a free film screening of the wonderful "Seeds of Vandana Shiva" - a feature-length documentary that presents the remarkable life story of the Gandhian eco-activist and agro-ecologist, Vandana Shiva - in celebration of World Soil Day.

Vandana Shiva has been an environmentalist for decades, working to move away from the industrial agricultural system towards an agricultural system that helps to protect the environment and people's sovereignty. In this, she has worked to try and protect and regenerate soils; a vital piece of the eocsystem that provides us with the food that we eat. Despite their importance, our soils have been depleted at a rapid rate: scientists argue that if we don't change conventional farming practices, topsoil - the bit that we grow out food in - could dissappear in 60 years. Improving the soil could also benefit rivers: healthy soils prevent soil erosion, flooding (as they retain water), and minimise the need for artificial fertiliser (meaning less pollution). Come and learn about how we can improve soils, the waters, and work together as a community to bring and support a regenerative future.

After the film screening, there will be a panel with experts on the importance of soil for healhty rivers, and how we can move forward. There will also be refreshments available throughout the event (organics teas and sweet treats).

Please bring a donation so we can continue to working towards restoring the River Medway back to good health and vitality. If you would like to learn more about our work, please visit:
