ABOUT
Friends of the River Medway is a group that wishes to restore the health and vitality of the River Medway, focusing first on our local catchment area: the Upper Medway. The group’s activities are part of a wider movement to transform humanity’s relationship to the world’s precious rivers and the wildlife that lives within them.
OUR VISION
We believe every river should be clean, vibrant, rich in nature, and free to flow in its natural course. Rivers ought to be thriving ecosystems that support diverse life and offer welcoming spaces for people to reconnect with the natural world. Our vision is for rivers to become drinkable once again, as they were for our ancestors and throughout most of Earth’s history. By bringing together practical action, legal advocacy, and a deep sense of reverence, we are committed to restoring the Medway, creating initiatives that honour the River, support her wildlife, and strengthen our local community.
