Free workshop (ages 12+)
We invite you to join us for a special afternoon workshop to create badges together for our River Medway Pilgrimage using artwork by the wonderful @taisbean, printed and fixed onto traditional coconut shells with safety pins. Inspired by the long history of pilgrims carrying tokens along the road, these badges will be worn by the river pilgrims as a part of their journey, and beyond.
The workshop includes:
- A short introduction to the history of pilgrim badges
- Stories and symbolism from pilgrimage traditions
- Making the badges
- Tea, conversation, and cake
Whether you plan to walk the pilgrimage or simply feel drawn to the spirit of it, you are warmly welcome.
